Mazda Design

Mazda vehicles are designed around the driver and passengers, to create a safe environment. Necessary elements including the steering wheel, accelerator, and brake pedal, are placed so that they are easy to operate and create the ideal driving position. This enhances the driver’s ability to react quickly when needed. Also, the vehicle’s layout positions the driver’s eye to provide a wider view of the road ahead. Additionally, the cabin employs an advanced airbag system including front airbags for the driver and front passenger seats, as well as front side and curtain airbags to protect the passengers in case of a side-impact collision. Not only is the interior layout created for the highest safety, but Mazda also uses a lightweight high-rigidity SkyActiv®-Body for outstanding crashworthiness.

i-Activesense® Safety Technology

The i-Activsense® approach to safety utilizes detection devices, such as radars and cameras, to help protect passengers and prevent accidents through visual and audible alerts. The forward-collision warning and blind-spot monitoring systems help detect vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists that are in your path and will even apply the brakes if necessary. Rear cross-traffic alert gives you an extra set of eyes to sense a vehicle approaching from the side when backing up. In addition, driver attention alert is designed to monitor the driver for any signs of fatigue and sends a warning signal if there appears to be decreased attentiveness.
